Biography

Elaina Loveland has been a writer, editor, and communications professional since 1999. She also earned a master’s degree in English at George Mason University and has taught college English courses as an adjunct instructor at several higher education institutions in the national capital area. She has also taught ballet to children and continues to take ballet, jazz, and modern dance classes.
As an independent journalist, Elaina has written for numerous publications including Adjunct Advocate, American Careers, Dance Teacher, Dance Spirit, Dramatics, Hispanic Outlook on Higher Education, International Educator, Military Officer, Pointe, Teen Vogue, and U.S. News and World Report, among others.
Elaina’s first book, Creative Colleges: A Guide for Student Actors, Artists, Dancers, Musicians, and Writers, was published in fall 2005; the fifth edition was released in 2017.
Creative Colleges earned recognition in the Washington Post, College Bound magazine and U.S. News and World Report’s annual college rankings guide and on usnews.com, and mentions in several national newspapers.
Creative Careers: A Guide for Aspiring Actors, Artists, Dancers, Musicians, and Writers, first published in 2007 and revised in 2009, is her second book.
